Beat the Odds® at Lowman Special Ed & Career Transition Center
We have launched a Beat the Odds® initiative in partnership with Los Angeles Unified School District’s Lowman Special Education and Career Transition Center, serving students with disabilities through young adulthood. Beat the Odds®: Social and Emotional Skill Building Delivered in a Framework of Drumming engages, connects, and calms through rhythm and creative self-expression. In addition to providing staff with simple ways to incorporate activities into the classroom, we are offering classroom and after-school demonstrations with students to strengthen implementation. This will be followed by the launching of a Dance for All initiative at the school in Spring 2024. Dance for All: Social and Emotional Learning through Creative Movement was originally designed for adolescents and adults with disabilities; yet, it is useful for all populations.
