Instructor Bio
Clory Rossi-Shewan, MA, LMFT has been a lead Dance For All instructor since 2011. Originally from Italy, she trained and performed as a professional dancer for over 20 years, specializing in ballet and modern dance at Balletto di Roma and IALS in Rome. She received a scholarship in 2001 to train with Ajkun Ballet Theatre and the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company in New York City and took classes at institutions like American Ballet Theatre and Broadway Dance Center. After discovering her passion for psychology, Clory earned an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles in 2013 and is now a licensed psychotherapist working with college students at Mindpath College Health in Santa Barbara. She has facilitated therapeutic group activities, including art, dance-movement, and yoga for children with special needs at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services and provided psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families at the Southern California Counseling Center. Clory is also the co-creator, with Vicki Alvarez, and lead facilitator of Let's Dance It Out, a therapeutic dance/movement program for special needs in Santa Monica. She is currently pursuing her Alternate Route - Dance/Movement Therapy training.
Vicki Alvarez, MS, BC-DMT was born and raised in San Francisco, where she began dancing at a young age training in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, modern, and hip-hop. She danced in companies that gave her opportunities to perform and compete, some including TV shows such as America's Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance. After graduating from Cal State Northridge in 2016, where she received her Bachelor's of Arts in psychology and minor in dance, she furthered her education to pursue a Master's of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. As a board-certified dance/movement therapist, she has worked with various populations such as adolescents, early childhood, special needs, young adults, and elderly with dementia. Vicki is also the co-creator and program director for Let's Dance It Out, a therapeutic dance/movement program for teens and adults with special needs based in Santa Monica. As a spiritual person who believes that the body serves as the unconscious mind, she finds many powerful ways to deepen connection and healing for all through the universal language of movement.
