The Certificate Program in Social Emotional Arts (SEA) empowers educators, community arts professionals, mental health practitioners, and others interested in maximizing social-emotional benefits of arts experiences.
Online Certificate Program in Social Emotional Arts (SEA)
Learn trauma-informed and culturally-mindful strategies for developing your own programs in this 60-hour online certificate program*—featuring best social emotional arts practices in art, dance/movement, drumming, music, poetry/writing, and theater.
Topics also include group cohesion, verbal and nonverbal communication, neurodiversity and learning differences, self-care and stress management, personal presentation skills, needs assessment and evaluation of program outcomes.
Training Highlights Include
- Methods for achieving stronger program outcomes through alignment of curriculum development and evaluation approaches informed by needs
- Stakeholder talking points for program promotion, including neural benefits of the arts for social emotional healing and well-being
- Creative approaches to managing challenging behavior and supporting difficult feelings
- Skill development in facilitating engagement through inclusionary arts practices and supportive language
- Lesson plan development in small teams, presented to cohort members and faculty panels for feedback
