Materials - What to Bring

  • An 8x11 piece of paper, cut in half, for the base of your collage
  • Five or six pages torn from magazines with primary images (people, animals, objects)*
  • Five or six pages torn from magazines with larger background scenes (nature, interiors, patterns)*
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors

*How to select these images: Sit back and have some fun flipping through magazines or catalogs from junk mail. Tear out pages with images that resonate with you, move you, or somehow seem to be calling out to you. Try to avoid overthinking it or figuring out what you’re going to do with it, and simply go with what captures your attention, even if you don’t know why. And don’t worry about cutting anything at this point—we’ll get to that in the workshop.
