Build intentional, imaginative stories through a series of multimodal activities centered on the creative exploration of traditional, lens-based photographs and ekphrastic, or vividly descriptive, poetry.
Offering the opportunity to explore storytelling through the seen and unseen in both art forms, this online session invites us to shift from the noise in our everyday lives and move inward—tapping back into the inherent power of art, community, and our own imaginations.

Instructor Bio
Ashley Blakeney (she/her/hers) is a Los Angeles-based arts healing facilitator and cultural leader with more than a decade of experience working in arts organizations and education. As the Executive Director at the Crenshaw Dairy Mart since 2021, Blakeney helps artists and communities of color imagine new systems for a more equitable world. Working at the intersection of abolition and healing, Blakeney’s professional and personal focus centers on cultivating safe spaces for connection and creative expression. Blakeney holds certificates from Arts & Healing Initiative in Social Emotional Arts (SEA) and the National Guild Community Arts Education Leadership Institute. - (optional) Headphones are recommended for a deep/active listening practice early in the session
- (optional) A favorite photograph or (image of) an artwork that tells a story
